Taska

Privacy Policy

Last updated 31 October 2026

This policy explains what information Taska collects when you use our app and website, why we need it, who we share it with, and how you can see, change or delete it.

Who we are

Taska is a marketplace in Ghana where people post tasks they need done (Posters) and skilled people offer to do them (Taskers). In this policy, “Taska”, “we” and “us” mean the company that runs Taska, which is responsible for your information. You can reach us about anything in this policy at [email protected].

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your name, email address, phone number, date of birth and password. We store your password in a form that can’t be read back, not as you typed it.
  • Profile: your profile photo, a short bio, and, if you work as a Tasker, your skills, experience, languages, rates, certificates and examples of your work.
  • Identity verification: photos of the front and back of your Ghana Card, if you choose to get verified. Our team uses them to check who you are.
  • Tasks and activity: the tasks you post (title, description, photos, address, timing and budget), offers you make or receive, questions and answers on tasks, reviews, reports and disputes.
  • Messages: chats with other people on Taska, including photos you send.
  • Payout details: the mobile money number and name you add so we can pay you.
  • Support: anything you tell us when you contact us.

Information we collect as you use Taska

  • Location: if you allow it, your phone’s location while you use the app, to show tasks and Taskers near you and to fill in addresses. You can turn this off in your phone’s settings and type a location instead.
  • Payments: records of what you paid or were paid, when, and for which task. Card and mobile money payments are entered on our payment provider’s secure page; we don’t receive or store your full card number.
  • Device and sign-in information: your IP address, device and browser type, when you signed in, and a notification token so we can send you push notifications.

On our website

  • Waitlist: your name and email if you join the waitlist, and whether you agreed to receive launch news.
  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics to understand how people use the website, such as which pages they visit. It uses cookies and collects information like your browser type and approximate location. You can block these cookies in your browser.

How we use your information

  • To create and run your account, and to sign you in securely.
  • To connect Posters and Taskers: showing tasks to Taskers nearby, sending offers, and letting you chat.
  • To verify identities and show who has been verified.
  • To take payments, hold them while a task is done, pay Taskers, and charge our fee.
  • To keep Taska safe: preventing fraud and abuse, reviewing reports, and settling disputes.
  • To send you messages about your account and tasks, by email, text message or push notification. You can choose which notifications you get in the app’s settings.
  • To send launch news and offers, only if you agreed to receive them. Every such email has a link to unsubscribe.
  • To fix problems and improve Taska.
  • To meet our legal obligations, such as keeping payment records.

What other people can see

  • Your profile: other users see your first name and the first letter of your last name, your profile photo, your bio, skills, ratings and reviews, and whether you are verified. They don’t see your email, phone number, date of birth or Ghana Card photos.
  • Your tasks: anyone, including people browsing without an account, can see a task’s title, description, photos, budget, timing and general area. People signed in to Taska can also see the address you enter, so they can decide whether to make an offer. Don’t include anything in a task you wouldn’t want others to read.
  • Your messages: only the people in the chat can read them. Our team may read them if a chat is reported or part of a dispute.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Other Taska users, as described above.
  • Service providers who run parts of Taska for us and may only use your information to do so: Paystack (payments and payouts), Brevo (email), Cloudflare (our website and file storage), Render and Neon (servers and database), Expo and Google (push notifications and website analytics), and our text message provider.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety.
  • A new owner, if Taska is sold or merged, who would have to keep protecting your information as this policy describes.

Some of these providers store information on servers outside Ghana. We choose providers that protect it to a standard at least as strong as this policy.

How long we keep it

  • We keep your information while your account is open.
  • When you delete your account, we erase your name, email, phone number, date of birth, photo, bio, profile details, Ghana Card photos, payout details and notification tokens. Finished tasks, payments, reviews and chats stay, because other people and our financial records rely on them; they show “Deleted user” instead of your name.
  • We keep payment records for as long as the law requires.
  • Waitlist details are kept until Taska launches or you ask us to remove them.

Your rights and choices

Under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you can:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
  • correct it: most details can be changed in the app under Account;
  • delete your account in the app, under Account > Account information > Delete My Account, or by emailing us;
  • stop receiving marketing emails at any time;
  • complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana if you think we have mishandled your information.

To make a request, email [email protected] from the address on your account. We reply within 30 days.

Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections, private storage for identity documents, and access limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep it to yourself.

Age limit

You must be at least 16 to use Taska. If we learn that someone younger has an account, we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
